Abstract

This study examines the Qur’anic order and rhetorical aspects in Tafsir Abi al-Su‘ud by Abu al-Su‘ud al-‘Imadi (d. 982 A.H.), a distinguished Ottoman scholar. The research highlights his linguistic mastery and analytical approach to Qur’anic expression through grammar, morphology, and rhetoric. It explores how he uses classical rhetorical devices such as fasl wa-wasl, taqdim wa-ta’khir, and ījāz wa-itnāb to reveal the eloquence and coherence of the Qur’an. The findings show that Tafsir Abi al-Su‘ud combines linguistic precision, theological depth, and stylistic beauty, making it one of the most balanced and refined works of Qur’anic exegesis in Islamic scholarship.
