The Jurisprudential Questions of The Companions (Women) In the Discussion of Purity and Their Contemporary Applications

The Qurān is the original source and fountain of human guidance. It provides clear instructions for the construction and organization of not only individual but also collective life. The teachings and commands revealed for human in the Qurān are for both men and women. All aspects of the partnership between men and women demonstrate that women have a complete personality, and all their rights are the same as those of men. Islam is the religion that gave women their identity and introduced their distinct personality into society. History is witness that in any society, women were not treated with respect and dignity. Even in Arab society, they were buried alive at birth. They had no right to live but Islam gave women the right to live and later, these same women played their role in the spread of Islam, and, like men, women also narrated many hadiths that reveal many aspects of the Sūnnāh of the Holy Prophet. Otherwise, it would have been possible that many religious issues related to worship, purity and affairs would not have reached us. Those who have done outstanding work in the field of preserving Hadith, an example of which cannot be found in any other religion or nation in the world. Whether it is the art of Hādīth or any other religious science or art, the performance of women is clearly visible. The services that women in Islam have rendered to the science of Hādīth are primarily represented by the Companions(women) and their followers (Tābyeēn). Women used to ask questions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) at many places and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) would answer them satisfactorily. Later, many of the Companions would ask the mothers of the Believers (Umāhūt ūl Mōmīneēn) about religious matters. This article describes the questions that women asked the Holy Prophet (PBUH) about purity and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) answered them. Furthermore, it also explains the different aspects of the opinions of the jurists in contemporary matters.
