Abstract

This article presents a discussion on the potential causes and means that can facilitate the People of the Book—the largest religious demographic in the contemporary world—in embracing Islam. It aims to simplify the process of conveying the message of Islam to them by highlighting points that can be effectively used during the invitation to Islam. It outlines those motivating factors and influences that may appeal to individuals from among the People of the Book and incline them toward accepting Islam.

The study begins with an objective and factual overview, followed by its applied analysis.

An example is given of a trustworthy and honest person who has spent a significant part of his life among the people with a remarkable character, and then claims before them that he has been sent as a representative by their benevolent king. The logical way to verify the truth of such a claim is laid out. Drawing from this analogy, the article presents guidance on how to approach the People of the Book and explain the possible factors that could lead them to embrace Islam.

The key points summarized are as follows:

  • If the People of the Book ponder over the Qur'an with sincerity and humility, they will come to recognize the truth.
  • If they examine the content of the Qur'an, they will find it to be a concise summary of the teachings found in their previous heavenly scriptures.
  • If they observe the style and linguistic features of their divine books, they will undeniably find the Qur'an to be a continuation of divine revelation.
  • If they reflect on the prophecies of previous prophets, they will recognize Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the Messenger of Allah just as clearly as they recognize their own sons.
  • If they consider the fact that trustworthy and serious scholars from among the People of the Book accepted Islam and believed in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, they too may be inspired to believe.
  • If they study their scriptures accurately and sincerely, they will find guidance leading them toward Islam.
  • If they observe that divine support has consistently accompanied the mission of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, this will serve as further evidence for them to accept Islam.
  • If they reflect on how their scriptures were altered over time and how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ unveiled those distortions and restored the original divine teachings, this too may lead them to accept Islam.
