Abstract

The subject of hijab has become a prominent and sensitive topic on an international scale. Western perspectives often view hijab as an unnecessary restriction on women’s freedom, whereas Islamic views consider it an essential aspect of religious observance, morality, and the protection of women’s dignity. This divergence of opinions has given rise to intense discussions, particularly within Muslim communities influenced by Western thought.

Islamic scholars and intellectuals have contributed significantly to the ongoing discourse, authoring numerous books and articles to address the questions and criticisms raised against hijab. Their work seeks to clarify the Islamic stance on hijab and explore the rights granted to women in Islam, comparing them to Western notions of freedom and rights. This research article reviews key scholarly works written on the subject, highlighting the depth of study conducted in defense of hijab, and aims to present a detailed comparison between Islamic and Western perspectives on women’s rights.

The findings show that extensive and comprehensive work has been carried out to answer objections against hijab, and abundant resources are available for further scholarly investigation. The analysis draws upon diverse religious, legal, and ideological viewpoints, offering a complete understanding of the underlying principles and objections. This comparative study serves as a guide for researchers interested in exploring the intersection of Islamic and Western views on women's rights, particularly in the context of hijab.
