Abstract

This study deals with the tendency of asceticism of a poet belonging to the Ottoman era, in addition to a comprehensive briefing on this poet's view of life and the ways of the peasant in it to reach a permanent stable home, and it is no secret to us that asceticism is a natural reaction to the social and religious conditions in the Eras in which this tendency flourished, especially in the Abbasid era and subsequent eras up to the Ottoman era, where poets expressed their rejection of the manifestations of luxury and extravagance, and called for patience and a return to a life of simplicity, worship and supplication to Allah, and this poetic purpose naturally contributed to in enriching Arabic literature and added a spiritual and moral dimension to it, and that is why this study came to reveal the nature of that tendency when The poet was not a fully ascetic poet, however, some of his poems carried ascetic orientations, reflecting his inner struggle with life and looking for a deeper meaning for it.
