The purpose of Islamic punishments is to prevent the human beings from cruelty and put them on the right path, and to give such a punishment that psychologically affects other people and they do not have the courage to do such evil deeds. One of these punishments is the punishment of cutting off the hand, when the thief is proven to have committed theft, according to the Shari'ah, his hand will be cut off, because theft destroys the basis of individual ownership. This is because if the crime of theft is not punished, then every human being can share in the food and drink, housing and clothing and equipment of others and eventually the strong will prevail and the weak will have nothing left but hunger, nakedness and deprivation. It is as if the Islamic Shari'ah has rejected the psychological factors that cause the crime by determining the absolute punishment from the psychological factors that prevent the crime. By default, if the psychological factors that cause the crime prevail over the preventing factors and a person commits a crime, then the punishment The harshness and intensity of the will instill in him the psychological factors that deter recidivism and he will not commit the crime again.
