For Muslims, bowing down and prostrating to Allah several times a day during daily prayer is a key element of their faith. There are fourteen verses in the Quran that praise those who "Prostrate to Allah." For Muslims, showing humility to Allah in this way is what separates believers from unbelievers. Sajdah Recitation shows the living relationship of the reciter with the Holy Qur'an, hence its extraordinary importance. This is a model of true relationship with the Holy Qur'an, which is the reward of the Messenger of Allah and is also a source of blessing and reward. When reading the verses, Muslims should perform an extra prostration to show a willingness to humble themselves before Allah. This act is known as "Sajdat Al-tilaawah". Urdu interpretations about these verses include Mufti Shafi Usmani’s commentary “Ma’arif al-Quran” and Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi’s commentary “Tadabur al-Quran”. This article is intended to give knowledge about the wisdoms in the Sajdat Al tilaawah and how they are explained in both interpretations.
