Maulana Maududi's approach of Reasoning in the Quranic exegesis (Specific study of Tafsir Tafhim-ul-Quran)

الملخص

Maulana Maududi was one of the versatile intellectuals of twentieth century who made significant contributions to the advancement of Islamic sciences and their establishment. He had gotten himself a decent position in Islamic sciences especially Ulum-ut-tafthir. He demonstrated in realistic terms how Qur’anic injunctions will be used to help humans with their daily issues. Maududi possessed a wide range of inventiveness.  His Tafthir Tafhim-ul-Quran demonstrates his resourcefulness and adaptability. His method of reasoning and strategy of taking the traditions/narrations from lineages in Tahim-ul-Quran will be brought to light in this research that aims to explain his intellectual perceptive towards Quranic exegesis. Applying qualitative research methodology, this article will attempt to highlight Maulana Modudi’s approach of reasoning in the Quranic exegesis specifically in Tafthir Tafhim-ul-Quran focusing on his method of transcribing hadith, the style of reasoning from the sayings of the Companions (Sahabah) and the style of using the Salaf commentaries. This study is valuable as it can help contemporary commentators to develop cognitive, logical but comprehensive approach to the exegesis of Quran.
