A Research Study on the Literary Status of Sheikh Nizamuddin Auliya in the Light of Fawaid al-Fuad

Abstract

Islam made an obligation for every men and women to get and spread knowledge. After the Holy prophet Muhammad there are many scholars of Islam have made notable contribution to promote the Islamic teachings and knowledge. Many Sufis are famous in the explanation of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. In Islamic history, every scholar and Sufi performed the duty of spreading knowledge to the all kind of people. Shaikh Niz̲āmuddīn Awliyā, was a shining star Sufi on the sky of Islamic propagation in Sub-continent. He significantly contributed to the spreading of Islamic teachings and knowledge in Sub-continent. Shaikh Niz̲āmuddīn Awliyā is famous in the field of Sufism but he is one of most prominent scholar of Islamic knowledge. His most famous work is “Fawāʾid al-Fuʾād “originally written in Persian language. Fawāʾid al-Fuʾād is spiritual and literary discourses of Shaikh Niz̲āmuddīn Awliyā originally compiled by Amīr Ḥasan ʿAlaʾ. This book is one of the earliest and most respected treatises of Islamic spiritual thoughts. In the light of Fawāʾid al-Fuʾād, the achievements of Shaikh Niz̲āmuddīn Awliyā in understanding interpreting and communicating the Qur'an, Hadith and her skill in jurisprudence, literature and poetry is glorious chapter of Islamic Sufism. He has deep and correct knowledge of the Quran, hadith, history and poetry etc. In this Article the educational status of Shaikh Niz̲āmuddīn Awliyā in the light of Fawāʾid al-Fuʾād has been discussed. This book shows that its writer was a great Sufi and great scholar.
