Keywords:
Mughal, genealogy, Central Asia, Mongols, Tatars, nomadic tribes, military, socio-cultural practicesAbstract
The Mughal rulers of South Asia originated from the Mongol and Tatar tribes of Central Asia, tracing their lineage to Yafith, the son of Prophet Noah (PBUH). These tribes led a nomadic lifestyle, which shaped their military skills, expertise in horsemanship, and strategic acumen. Over time, the Mughals gradually adopted Islam, established themselves in new regions, and influenced local administration, culture, and architecture. Analyzing their genealogical roots and socio-historical background provides insight into their methods of governance, military organization, and cultural integration. This study highlights how their lineage, tribal affiliations, and historical experiences contributed to the formation of one of the most influential dynasties in South Asian history.
