Shaykh Saleemullah Khan His Services and Scholarly Status

Abstract

Shaykh Saleemullah Khan (رحمه الله) is among the renowned scholars of the subcontinent who not only attained a high rank in the academic field but also rendered valuable services in the fields of education, administration, and organization. He belonged to a religious and scholarly family. He acquired his early education from his respected father, and then quenched his scholarly thirst at a great institution like Darul Uloom Deoband.

Academic Growth and Teachers: He benefited from great teachers such as Allama Hussain Ahmad Madani (رحمه الله) and many other distinguished scholars. His academic depth, juristic insight, and expertise in Hadith were the results of his teachers’ attention and training.

Teaching Services: Shaykh Saleemullah Khan (رحمه الله) taught at various religious seminaries, but he gained the most recognition at Jamia Farooqia, Karachi, in the fields of teaching and administration, where he served as the rector (Muhtamim) until the end of his life. Under his supervision, hundreds of scholars, Hadith experts, and teachers were prepared.

Role in Wifaq al-Madaris: He was elected as the president of Wifaq al-Madaris al-Arabiyyah, Pakistan. Under his leadership, the Wifaq achieved new milestones in organizational, curricular, and educational fields. His role was always based on unity, wisdom, and integrity. Thousands of his students are serving the religion not only in Pakistan but also in many countries around the world. The impact of his scholarly and spiritual training is reflected in their services.

Written Contributions: His most important work is *Kashf al-Bari Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari*, which contains scholarly, juristic, and spiritual commentary on Hadith. This book is especially well-known in the seminaries of the subcontinent.

Scholarly Status: Shaykh Saleemullah Khan (رحمه الله) was among those scholars whom Allah granted knowledge, forbearance, dignity, and widespread acceptance. He was not only a teacher but also a reformer, administrator, and thinker.
