The Role of Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom Sarhad: A Review of Academic and Teaching Services

Abstract

In Pakistan, there are a well-established ‘Madrassa’ system (Religious Seminaries) that is playing his role in educating and enlightening the society since centuries. Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom Sarhad is one of the great Islamic seminaries located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was founded in 1951 by Syed Muhammad Ayoob Jan Banori. This historical institution serves the both chapters, The Islamic education and social work. The institution has a great number of teachers who acquired their complete education in this institution and are not only scholars of Dars e Nizami but also equipped with contemporary education from universities and other traditional institutes. Besides the social and educational role, it has a significance due to its role during the era of Indo-Pak split. So, in this article we will discuss the brief history of Madaris and then introduction to Darul Uloom Sarhad and its various types of services.
